More levels released for Angry Birds. Yes, really.

Angry Birds, the ridonkulously popular iOS game, is receiving yet more levels bestowed upon it by publisher Rovio. Airfield Chase brings you 15 new levels for Angry Birds Rio, and you toss your birds at stacks of luggage, suitcases and other airporty doo-dads. It also comes with four new Game Center achievements. To get the levels you have to grab Angry Birds Rio, however (just plain old Angry Birds doesn’t cut it anymore), and that’ll clock in at around $0.99 for iPhone and $2.99 for iPad.

Those of you who know me will know that I’m not the biggest fan of this game. Though it’s definitely a blockbuster for iOS and has shown that the iPhone is a gaming force to be reckoned with, I’m a little put off by Rovio’s relentless marketing and pushing of new versions of Angry Birds which are little more than the old game with some not-that-impressive new skins. They’re certainly making the  most of a successful franchise and consistently sitting on top of the App Store game charts, but I really wouldn’t mind seeing a few other companies with better and more interesting games eat some of their lunch.
