It really seems like the iPhone can do just about anything.
Now, it can even help detect signs of skin cancer, thanks to an app named Skin Scan.
Skin Scan can analyze photos of moles taken from an iPhone or iPod touch for possible signs of skin cancer. Multiple photos can be added to the app to monitor any moles or spots for changes over time.
Skin Scan uses “fractal map tissue analysis,” a fully automated, self-improving analysis algorithm.
Which sounds pretty cool.
Of course, a doctor is a lot better choice if you have a suspicious lump, but this app is a great example of what can be done with the technology in our pockets. The app can even tell you where the closest dermatology office is located.
