Fruit Ninja developers look to even out karma, partner with Fruit Tree Planting Foundation

Oh man, this news just made my day. On the back of selling 6 million copies of Fruit Ninja, as well as the slicing and dicing of 150 billion fruits, Halfbrick, the studio responsible for Fruit Ninja, has partnered with the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation. We’re not joking.

Destroying fruit digitally has led the Fruit Ninja team to give back to the community by helping the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation plant orchards around the world to benefit communities and the environment. Halfbrick has sponsored an entire orchard for a low-income Native American community.

The ideology behind the project is that the orchard will both provide sustenance to the community as well as help to provide long-term income.

What a great idea, and a very creative way to give back to the community. Props to Halfbrick for the philanthropic work. Doing stuff like this makes it easier to support developers we love.
