Verizon’s about to announce that the iPhone is now available on their network (should the announcement rumors be true), which is a big deal for some, but according to Coverage, it might not be that big of a deal to others in the US.

If you’re thinking about making the switch from AT&T to Verizon today, you should probably double check the coverage in your area first. Luckily, there’s “an app for that.” Two Steps Beyond has put together a universal application that lets you toggle coverage maps in the US. You can see how well you’re covered on the AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile networks in your area.

It’s pretty surprising to see just how little coverage AT&T has in the US. It kind of makes you wonder what Apple was thinking when they decided to pick AT&T as their exclusive carrier.

On a completely unrelated yet related note, welcome to the iPhone world, Verizon customers.¬†Verizon’s big event is scheduled to start in 30 minutes, and we’ll provide coverage where we can. ¬†We’re not at the event, but by this point in the game we all know what’s coming anyway.
