Camera+ sells 6 million times, makes a killing on the App Store

TapTapTap is reporting that Camera+ has sold 6 million times on the App Store, despite being absent for six months between its release and the end of 2011.

John Casasanta has reported that the app has earned $5,125,844 since its release, along with some insights:

The two most relevant things contributing to the large jumps on the right side of the above chart were the launch of the iPhone 4S in early October and the annual Christmas bump. Both were increases that were expected but what’s been surprising is how long each has lasted.

What’s even more surprising is that the application managed to pick up steam again, after spending so much time not in the App Store. During Camera+’s absence from the App Store, Instagram exploded onto the scene (October 06, 2010 was its release day). Personally, I like Camera+ better than Instagram, despite the complete lack of community on Camera+. TapTapTap’s application is by far a better camera application, and that’s what matters most.
