Apps of the Week: Repeat Timer Pro, Converse, and Alfred

It’s Friday, and that means it’s time to take a look at some awesome apps for each platform: iPhone, iPad, and Mac OS. Today, we’re focusing on timers, conversing in other languages, and finding your files quickly.

Ready? Let’s begin.

iPhone/iPod touch:

Repeat Timer Pro: If Apple had put their time into the timer function, this still would not have been the product. In fact, it would have been behind. Repeat Timer Pro features an interval timer that runs between main timer cycles, over 20 alert sounds, it runs in the background with sound and notification alerts, has a secondary interval timer, and… it has repeat functions. In other words, if it were possible, I’d advise you to delete Apple’s timer altogether and replace it with this. It just works. Not to mention, the creator of the app, Artem Lapitski, put some time and thought into the design!

Converse: Have you ever been caught in a situation where you or the person you were speaking to couldn’t understand the other? Even if you answered no to that question (someone doesn’t get out much), I’m sure you’ve pondered on what you’d do. Whip out a language dictionary? Try to play charades with the person, pay a bystander for translation, etc. I’d just download Converse and use it. Converse is a language translator for conversations that uses a unique dual-keyboard layout to break down the language barrier. It currently translates between English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Dutch. So give this a try. The speedy translation makes it easier to have a talk. Not to mention, it makes you look cool!

Alfred: Be honest. Everyone wants a best friend named Alfred. If you weren’t lucky enough to find such a friend, you can have one now on your Mac! Alfred is a keyboard-driven productivity application for Mac, helping you launch apps and search your local computer as well as the web with great speed. Search your Mac, search the web, calculate and spell, control your Mac with system commands, and even create custom searches. All with one app. Yup, Alfred is just that cool. Plus, he comes in purple. Check out our full review of this app.

Well, that’s it for this week folks! Like the apps we mentioned? Share the post with your friends. Have any suggestions? Email me at or ping me @jarederondu and I’ll check them out. Until next Friday, have a great weekend.

Oh, and Happy Holidays!
