Apple to focus on software-driven iPhone releases in future?

Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty said today he believes future iPhone releases will be more software-driven than focused on hardware.

While most analysts seem to say things that make me want to bash my head into my desk, I think Huberty is probably right about this. Even this year it looks like the next iPhone release has been pushed back a bit, meaning the iPhone 4 will be the “top dog” for longer than previous versions.

Lots of rumors have been floating around about iOS 5 gaining lots of features. This would fit into a shifted mindset at Apple, if indeed Huberty is right.
