Apple AirPlay private key exposed

Developer James Laird has reverse-engineered the keys Apple uses in its AirPlay technology and has produced a proof-of-concept app named Shareport, which uses RAOP.

Before Laird’s work, Apple’s key was private, limiting usage of AirPlay to official third-party partners who pay Apple licensing fees. Unless Apple changes AirPlay, this work should lead to some interesting new apps to sling audio and video from device to device.
