Wal-Mart plans on selling iPads

If you want your device to be the top dog, you need to get it into the hands of the largest consumer population on the planet. It’s comes as no surprise that Apple may be negotiating with Wal-Mart in an attempt to get iPads into their US stores by years end.

“We anticipate being able to have the iPad later this year,” said Gary Severson, senior vice president of entertainment for Wal-Mart, during a phone interview with Bloomberg’s Businessweek.

While Severson didn’t elaborate on exactly what he was talking about, his comments were enough to set off a frenzy around the internet.

Jay Yarow of Business Insider notes that, ” With rivals promising to release iPad challengers later this year, getting the iPad into the biggest retail operation in the world is obviously good for Apple.” We tend to agree, if you can convert Wal-Mart shoppers into iPad users in short order, there’s a good chance that your device is going to come out on top.

Wal-Mart’s the key to a sales explosion and market dominance in a lot more ways than most give them credit for.
