Random House adopted the “agency model” for selling their books yesterday, but refused to comment on whether or not they would be bringing their books to the iBookstore. It turns out that their “no comment” actually meant yes, the books will be available.
As of this morning, a bunch of Random House books showed up in the iBookstore. This may be part of the upcoming iPad 2 announcement, and someone may have flipped the activation switch a little bit early. At the very least, we now have access to one of the largest publishing company’s catalogs on the iPad. Hopefully the days of scouring all over the internet for eBooks is over for iPad users.
