Rumor: Murdoch’s Daily coming January 17th, what about iPad 2?

A partnership between Apple and News Corp., the release of a subscription model, and the release of a new “Daily” isn’t something that Apple lets slip without fanfare. It’s looking more and more likely that the official  “Daily” announcement could happen before Macworld. All Things Digital thinks that Murdoch’s Daily will be released on January 17th.

Personally, I have a gut feeling this announcement will take place on stage at an official Apple event.

Last year’s iPad event took place on January 27th, so it’s no surprise that people think that announcement day for iPad 2 could be around the same time this year. Macworld 2011 starts January 26th and ends on the 29th. If you’re a betting man, I’d make sure you keep the weeks leading up to Macworld open. There’s probably a keynote in there somewhere.

To reiterate, this is all speculation on our part, and we haven’t received a tip about this, but our gut tells us that recurring automated subscriptions are big enough to make an appearance during Apple’s next keynote, especially a keynote that focuses on the iPad 2.  It seems like the iPad 2 and Daily combination would make excellent topics for a Stevenote.
