The People’s Design Awards are upon us, and Apple’s iPad is in the top ten favourites currently. There’s no real mention of what the criteria for the award is, outside of being a “design” award. So, we’re not exactly sure on what basis people are voting, but the top eight they have listed are a pretty mixed bag of products.
The iPad is sleek, it’s sexy, and it’s the only one on the market. I don’t see how it can’t walk away with the People’s Choice Award. Kidding — it’s up against some heavy weights like the DODOcase, Vapur the Anti-Bottle, and Hello Rewind’s upcycled laptop sleeves which help sex-trafficking survivors.
The upcycled laptop sleeves are pretty neat. They take your old t-shirt and turn them into a laptop sleeve. From there, the money goes to giving job training to sex-trafficking survivors in NYC.
