iOS 4.2 to be released in November

At today’s Apple Event, Steve Jobs detailed some of the new features that would be rolling out with the next version of iOS. Coming out in November, iOS 4.2 is all about the iPad. It will bring all of the great features of iOS 4.1 to the iPad. That includes multitasking, folders, and Game Center.

New and notable features that Jobs demonstrated included: wireless printing from the iPad, and a renamed and revamped media streaming ability called AirPlay.

Wireless printing is, as you would expect, simple and easy. Simply push the Tools button, select a printer from the list, and your document goes to the printer. In the dock, is a new Printer Summary, which details the print job in process.

AirPlay is the new AirTunes, now with the added ability to stream audio, video and photos over the WiFi network. No longer simply restricted to audio in the iTunes library, the ability to stream all types of media is a welcome addition.

iOS 4.2 is set to release in November and will be free to all users.
