iFixit shows differences between CDMA and GSM iPad 2 models

The boys and girls at iFixit are at it again. The group has taken apart both the GSM and CDMA iPad 2 to learn about the 3G radios used in each of them.

iFixit points out that these models are similar in design to what Apple did with the iPhone 4. The CDMA has no SIM slot, and the CDMA version packs on additional antenna.

Like the GSM iPhone 4, the GSM iPad 2 packsĀ Infineon and Broadcom chips while the CDMA version uses a single Qualcomm radio.

Be sure to click through to the iFixit page for lots more details and some nice photos of what has to be one Apple’s simplest product designs.
