The Daily extends free access until February 28th

I woke up this morning, opened The Daily, gave it a read, and then thought to myself, “is this worth paying for?” I fully expected that the trial would run out in the next couple of days, like previously planned, but I was still on the fence about whether the application was worth a subscription. I took a moment to poll the things I liked and didn’t like about the application and made a decision. But, I’m going to save that decision for another post, because as of right now, The Daily’s trial has been extended until the end of February. Rupert Murdoch’s The Daily team now has another two weeks to convince me that it’s worth sticking around.

A small part of me hopes that they have something more up their sleeves, but the realist in me believes that this has more to do with the lack of a subscription update from Apple Inc. Should Apple’s new timeline for subscriptions be the end of February (iOS 4.3), then we probably shouldn’t be expecting any other Apple related announcements until then, at the very least.

So, now that we’re getting an extra two weeks with The Daily, will you continue to check it out, or have you already decided against it as a daily news magazine?

We’d love to know in the comments.
