Apple To Release New Lighting Cables Today, More Wattage For iPad Mini?

Apple has been gearing up for today’s special event for a little while, sending out invites, decorating the California Theater in Apple logos, and adding a new Apple Events channel to the Apple TV, and so have the rumors. Now, reports indcate that Apple will be releasing a slew of new Lightning cables and adapters at today’s event.

The cables, including USB, SDCard, Digital AV, and VGA, are listed along with prices ranging from $19 to $79. In the photo above, you’ll notice that Apple could be releasing the Lightning USB adapter from the SD card kit that would go for $29. Most people will likely choose to buy the Lightning USB adapter and a cheap USB-to-SDCard adapter. The 60W Magsafe power adapter is probably intended for the new 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro that Apple is also rumored to announce today.

At the bottom you’ll also notice a new USB power adapter for the new iPad minis. It’s up to 12W from 10W. This increase in wattage could allow for faster charging, and may do something about complaints that the 3rd generation iPad takes a long time to charge.
