Penny Arcade Adventures 3 Launches Without Mac Support

After a very long wait, Penny Arcade’s On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness Episode 3 is out now on Steam for $4.99 USD. The continuation of the series is in stark contrast to the previous two incarnations developed by Hothead Games. This is a 16-bit-style menu-driven RPG written by Jerry Holkins of Penny Arcade and developed by Zeboyd Games.

While the first two games were released on Windows, Mac, and Linux at launch, the same cannot be said about this version. Sadly, the only way to play Episode 3 at launch is through Steam on Windows. Mac OS X, iOS, Xbox 360, and Android versions are coming, but it is fairly disappointing that Mac users are once again being treated like second class citizens. The release of the game was even pushed forward because the developer finished work early.

It was originally planned for a July release but we figured – the game is done so why wait that long?

Unfortunately, that time was not spent on readying the OS X version for simultaneous release. If your enthusiasm can maintain, we’ll get a release eventually. Until then, let’s all release a collective sigh.
