EA scraps Battlefield 3: Aftershock permanently

Remember when we reported that EA had taken Battlefield 3: Aftershock, that depressing stain on the history of the franchise, down on the App Store? Well, news arrived today from EA that they’re scrapping the project permanently. I wish I could say I was sad for their loss.

When they originally released the game back in February, they did so without a peep or a hint of marketing effort. As we all began downloading the game, we slowly came to realize why the game’s launch had been so hush-hush. With a sorry excuse for an arsenal, no multiplayer capability (as they had originally promised), and shockingly lackluster gameplay, the game was heavily criticized and, not long thereafter, taken down.

Now it seems that EA has decided that it’s back to the drawing board to create the BF3 mobile experience they promised us. At least that’s what we’re hoping. With bated breath, we wait! Please, oh, please, don’t let us down again.
