Control The iKettle With Your iPhone

As a lover of pour-over coffee, one of the first things I do in the morning is power on my electric kettle. However, since my kettle takes a bit of time to heat up, it’d be nice if I could leave water in my kettle overnight and use my phone to power my kettle on in the morning, so by the time I got out of the shower, my coffee would ready for brewing.

Well, with the iKettle, this is completely possible.

The iKettle is a Wi-Fi controlled water kettle that interfaces with an iPhone app. This app lets you power on your kettle, set the temperature, and receive notification when your water is ready. The app also has a wakeup mode, so your water will be at temperature the second you wake up. Likewise, you can also set your kettle to start warming up when you walk in the door at the end of the day.

The only problem with this kettle is that there are only four temperature presets: 65C, 80C, 95C, and 100C. Though 95C is an acceptable brewing temperate for coffee, it doesn’t leave much room for experimentation with different temperatures, something I like to do when trying new coffees.

The iKettle features a modern stainless steel design that can be customized by the user using one of iKettle’s skins. These skins are made out of silicone, available in five colors, and fit snugly around your kettle’s body. Since these skins are made out of silicone, they prevent burns from touching the outside of your bare kettle.

You can purchase your iKettle here for a pricey $225.

Now if only the iKettle came in a gooseneck version…
