Looks Like Bitcoin Apps Are Back On The Menu At Apple, Boys

They were pulled, then allowed back in, and now Bitcoin apps are finally being re-approved for inclusion in Apple’s App Store. Coin Pocket, an app to send and receive Bitcoin from your iOS device is now back at home on the App Store.

Back in February Apple pulled the plug on all of the alternative currency applications on the App Store. At the time some suggested it was out of fear of questionable legalities surrounding the apps. Blockchain was yanked from the App Store, and 120,000 app users were left without their favourite Bitcoin wallet on iOS.

Apple’s new review guidelines, released two weeks ago (June 3), addressed the previous issue head-on, and now allows for virtual currencies on the app store:

Apps may facilitate transmission of approved virtual currencies provided that they do so in compliance with all state and federal laws for the territories in which the app functions.

Apple’s now gone full circle. Virtual currency apps are about to flood the App Store again. Get ready to start sending your Bitcoin, starting with Coin Pocket.
