Apple releases updated Time Capsule

It’s clearly release day over at Apple Inc. Just minutes ago they released the brand new Final Cut Pro X, and now they’ve pulled the trigger on the brand new, 3GB Time Capsule. The Time Capsule is now available on both 2TB and 3TB models, and supports simultaneous 802.11n Wi-Fi over the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.

With Lion’s inclusion of TimeMachine-like versioning for your files, we’d highly suggest picking up the 3TB model if your budget allows it. Something tells us that backups are about to balloon a little in Lion.

Apple’s yet to pull the trigger on a website update that explains the pricing for both models, but we believe the 2TB model will come in at $299.00 and the 3TB model around $499.00.

For those of you shocked by the pricing, keep in mind that the Time Capsule is also a wireless router, and not just an external hard drive. My last generation Time Capsule has worked seamlessly, and is probably one of the best routers I’ve ever had in my home. It’s worth the investment.
