30 Days Of iOS Tips: Use iCloud Tabs To Get At Webpages Open On Other Devices

iCloud Tabs is an OS X and iOS feature that lets you quickly view a webpage open on any of your devices from any of your other devices. For example, I can get at any webpage I have open in Safari on my Mac from my iPhone and iPad, even if my Mac’s at home and I’m out and about. Here’s how to get at your iCloud Tabs from an iPad or iPhone.

Open Safari, then tap the Tabs button in the browser toolbar—represented by two squares stacked on top of one another. Scroll down to the bottom, and you’ll see a list of all the Safari browser tabs open on all your iCloud-authenticated devices (whether you need to scroll at all will depend on how many webpages you have open in your browser).

Once you find the page you want to view, tap its title, and it’ll appear in a new tab in Safari.

Want to remove an iCloud Tab from the list? Simply swipe it from right to left, then tap Delete. It may take a few moments for that tab to disappear from the list, and you may need to exit the tab viewer (tap Done) before it updates.

I’m not going to lie—I didn’t quite get the utility behind iCloud Tabs right away. It took me a bit of time to see how it fit into my usage patterns, but once I got a feel for it, iCloud Tabs became indispensable. Give it a try if you haven’t already.
