Ridescout Gets You Around Town Fast

On the expo floor at Techweek Chicago, I was introduced to Ridescout: an all-in-one urban navigation app. The app shows all public transit stations, ride share cars, and bike share stations near you on a map, and can be used to give you step-by-step directions to your destination using any one of these services.

When going from place to place, you can sort your available routes by departure times, arrival times, and estimated cost. In addition to public and private transit options, Ridescout will compare walking and taking your personal bicycle or car to your destination, including calorie and gas cost information.

Ridescout can also be used as a carpooling app using Social Ride. When driving your own car to a destination, you can offer other Ridescout users a ride to or near your destination free of charge. To give and take rides, all you need to do is log into Ridescout with Facebook.

The app is available in 69 cities in the United States an Canada and is localized specifically for each city using local transit services, ride share programs, and bike share services.

Ridescout is free on the App Store.
