Speck’s CandyShell Amped Case Gives Your iPhone’s Speaker A Boost

Speck has added yet another case to its ever-so-popular CandyShell lineup: the CandyShell Amped. Though this case looks like any other standard CandyShell in Speck’s line, it has a built-in passive amplifier that can turn iPhone’s speaker up two-times louder than a stock iPhone speaker.

The Amped case amplifies your iPhone’s speaker by way of Speck’s “horn” design on the inside of the case. This design is cut into the inside of the case and kinda sorta (by a long shot) resembles a horn and channels your iPhone’s audio from the bottom of the device out to a newly located speaker grill on the left-hand side of the case, making your iPhone speaker louder and amplifying it without any additional power source.

The only problem? This case has a speaker grill placement on the left, putting out left-handed users like myself. When gripping my iPhone with my left hand, I cover the exact spot where this grill is located. It’d be nice to see Speck make another version of this case for left-handed users, with the speaker grill on the right side.

Purchase a CandyShell Amped case for your iPhone 5 or 5S here for a pricey $44.95.
