Infinity Blade free update, weekend sale

It’s Friday, and can you think of a better way to relax this weekend than by sword-fighting with huge overgrown club wielding monsters? I didn’t think so. The slash, block and dodge game developed by Chair using the Unreal Engine received its first update this week, “Infinity Blade: The Deathless Kings” content pack, adding a new level, opponents and items. According to the game description, “ChAIR loves you, so we are giving you EVEN MORE awesome content in the ultimate update – for free!” As if that wasn’t enough, the app is also on sale at 50% off until Sunday March 6.

One of the criticisms of the original game was the relatively limited number of areas to explore. There was really only one path to the end boss, and having to go through the same rooms over and over became somewhat repetitive. The new dungeon areas give the player an alternate path to go, and different opponents to fight. Disappointingly, there is no multiplayer in this update, although Chair still says that that feature is coming. We’ll just have to hope it comes in a future update.

Other additions in this content pack include:

  • Multiple character slots so others can play and save their own game
  • Over 30 new items
  • More than 10 new enemies to fight
  • The ability to keep playing after you beat the final boss, with NewGame+ mode
  • New achievements and more leaderboards

If you’re looking for a game that can show off what your iPhone 4 can really do, Infinity Blade is by far one of the best looking and action filled games available. Check it out if you don’t have it already.
