Alfred Hits Version 2.0, Super, Mega, Awesome Update

Alfred, the popular Spotlight replacement application (it does way more than Spotlight, btw), has been updated to version 2.0 today. The application has been rewritten from the ground up, and includes huge updates and enhancements that are worth checking out.

The most important and stand out addition is the new workflow framework that is included in the application.

Think of the workflows as an Automator for your files and the web. For instance, you can use the keyword “movie” to open a trailer in YouTube, the listing in IMDB, and the ratings on Rotten Tomatoes all at the same time, from the one action. You can also connect hot keys to scripts and Apple Scripts, making the possibilities pretty endless.

If you’re tired of Apple’s Spotlight, and miss the glory days of Quicksilver, Alfred is worth checking out. It’s developed a cult following for a reason — it’s simply the best at what it does.
