Google Maps For iOS Gets First Major Update

Google Maps for iOS jumped from version 1.0 to 1.1 today with the release of the first update for the popular app. The update brings the ability to see the addresses of your contacts when you search for their names, as well as a new, easy way to find local restaurants, bars, attractions, and other goodies.

The app is now able to take the addresses from contacts stored on your Google account as long as you’re signed in. It doesn’t seem, however, to be able to take addresses from the contact information stored on your phone.

Also in the update is a Nearby Places feature that makes it easier to quickly discover and find new places around you. If you’re looking to be entertained, simply tap on “attractions” and you can now quickly hop around the map to all the nearest places labeled as attractions.

Download the update from the App Store now.
