This Samsung Super Bowl Commercial Actually Doesn’t Suck

For the first time in what seems like a while, Samsung has made a commercial that doesn’t take a stab at Apple or even Apple fans, and it’s actually pretty funny. The Super Bowl commercial features Knocked Up stars Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd and Breaking Bad‘s Bob Odenkirk.

Rogen and Rudd play writers who are pitching ideas for Samsung’s next commercial to Odenkirk. It plays on the fact that they can’t mention trademarked names, with Odenkirk cutting them off every time they’re about to say “Super Bowl,” “Baltimore Ravens,” or “San Francisco 49ers.” If the actors actually did say any of these in the commercial, Samsung would be on the hook to pay a fee to the NFL.

The commercial doesn’t mock Apple, the iPhone or any other company or device. The only thing it might be taking a dig at is the NFL, which is a nice change of pace.
