Pandora has just released a ton of interesting statistics about its music streaming service via its company blog. The company stated that they pumped out over 13 billion hours worth of music during 2012 from over 100,000 artists. Ten thousand of these artists had 250,000 unique listeners. Pandora users listened to over 1 million different songs during the same time period over which 1.6 billion Pandora stations were created.
Pandora is a music streaming service that takes your music taste and recommends new music for you. Users can listen to different stations, which play music related to the selected artist or music genre. If a user hears a song he or she likes, a link to iTunes to the specified song is available directly through the mobile app. The service is good for both listeners and artists as it helps artists connect with new audiences and vice versa.
The service is free, though heavy users of Pandora will likely want to upgrade to Pandora One. This service gives users unlimited “skips”, meaning they can skip as many songs as they like, getting rid of the 6 skip limit. Pandora One also removes ads and streams at a higher bit rate. You can subscribe to the service for $3.99 per month or $36 per year.
