Walmart To Begin Selling No Contract, Financeable iPhone 5

Starting January 11, Walmart will begin selling the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 on no-contract plans provided by Straight Talk Wireless. Customers can sign up for a $45 monthly plan, as well as a $70 a month option, with $45 from that going to the plan and the other $25 going towards financing the cost of the phone.

The iPhone models offered will be limited to the 16GB iPhone 5 for $649 and the 8GB iPhone 4 for $449.

“We believe customers shouldn’t have to choose between saving money and having the latest technology,” stated Seong Ohm, senior vice president of entertainment for Walmart. “Now customers can have the coveted iPhone with unlimited talk, text and data without a contract for $70 a month thanks to our exclusive Straight Talk plan and industry first financing offer.”

The phones and plans will begin rolling out at Walmarts across the U.S. as well as their online store this Friday.

The financing option definitely makes for an enticing choice when you consider how much it costs to buy an off-contract iPhone. Unfortunately, customers require a Walmart Credit Card to use this feature so most will be forced to go get one of those if they want to take advantage of the deal. Kinda of a non-starter for most, right?
