Amazon Prime Makes Its Way To Canada

Amazon announced today that its popular U.S. membership program, Amazon Prime, is now available to all of its Canadian customers. Prime offers users unlimited free two-day shipping for an annual cost of $79.99 or $3.99 for any one-day item shipped. The Canadian version, however, will not include the Amazon Instant Video and Kindle e-book lending features that American customers have access to currently.

Amazon has said that they have no plans to ever bring these features to the Great White North. The service remains priced the same as Amazon Prime in the U.S., despite the removal of these major features. Go figure, right?

A 1 month free trial is also available for all customers excluding citizens of Quebec. Those living in rural areas won’t be promised two-day shipping and rather are only guaranteed free standard shipping.

Amazon Prime can be an incredibly useful service that helps us come one step closer to that sweet utopia where we’re no longer forced to leave our houses. Guaranteed two-day shipping on toilet paper is not something you should take for granted.
