In September AT&T launched nine new 4G LTE markets, and today the company is adding a few more to its network. AT&T has officially launched its LTE network in Denver and Milwaukee, bringing with it much higher and faster wireless data speeds to iPhone 5 users in these markets.
AT&T also turned on its LTE service this week in Daytona Beach, Louisville, York, Provo-Orem, and Tacoma. AT&T has said that its LTE data network works up to 10 times faster than 3G.
The official launch of LTE in the new markets was today, but some areas were even seeing LTE coverage on Tuesday. Reliable signals are at least available along the 125 corridor south of Westminster and parts of the southeastern and southwestern metro area, according to the Mac Observer.
AT&T plans to continue expanding its LTE markets, noting that “Customers can get 4G speeds outside of 4G LTE areas on our 4G HSPA+ network, unlike competitors, where smartphone customers fall back to slower 3G technologies when outside of LTE coverage.”
There you have it, LTE. Enjoy it, at least until you see your first cellular bill while using the LTE network. Brace yourselves, price gouging on dataplans is just around the corner…
