iPad Gets The Gold Treatment, Still Gaudy

If you’ve always wanted a 7.9-inch tablet made out of gold, London-based Gold and Co. has you covered. They’ve just announced plans for a 24kt gold dipped iPad mini, which will go on sale in London, the United Arab Emirates and Dubai. Gold and Co. has yet to reveal the pricing of this modified Apple tablet, but considering a gold iPhone 5 will run you $5,000, we should see the iPad mini sport a similar price tag.

Gold and Co. has made the following statement on their overly gold iPad:

All buttons and bezels are hand-polished to a mirror finish then plated in a Multi layer process topped off with 24KT gold to ensure end-to-end coverage and worry-free durability. Each limited-edition item is individually numbered to ensure exclusivity. There are no factory locks on our devices, which means they can be used anywhere in the world.

Personally, I’m not a big fan of the solid gold iPad, but if you’re into that kind of thing, check out the photo we’ve embedded above. It was recently tweeted via the Gold And Co. Twitter account. I’m sure it’ll go with a nice set of gold teeth.
