iPhone 5 Untethered Jailbreak Not Yet A Reality But Slowly Getting There

If you’re one of those people who just have to be able to do things like, say, install an Android system on your iPhone, chances are you’ve probably benefited from the machinations of the Dev Team.

Unfortunately for jailbreak enthusiasts, Cupertino’s team of experts appears to be intent on devising hack-proof systems capable of preventing feats such as the one mentioned above. Nonetheless, while a one-size-fits-all solution has yet to be released to the public, it looks like it’s a work in progress — theoretically speaking, at least.

According to Today’s iPhone, a Twitter user known as @planetbeing recently reported that they had succeeded in “upgrading the #failbreak with a kernel exploit so tweaks actually work on iPhone 5.” Sadly, exciting as that may sound, you probably shouldn’t begin rejoicing just yet. In order to achieve what @planetbeing has done, you would need to own a developer’s account, a requirement that only a handful of people are capable of satisfying.

Still, it’s indicative of the fact that a breakthrough may eventually occur. After all, there is only a finite amount of code to work through. At some point, someone will figure out how to break through iPhone 5’s heavy-duty security system, right?
