A Look Inside The iPod Nano Reveals Low Repairability And “Mystery Chips”

iFixit is at it again. This time they’ve gone all Freddy Krueger on the 7th-generation iPod nano. Staying true to previous analysis, they reveal that thinner devices continue to mean lower repairability.

Internal parts, including the battery, Lightning connector and volume controls, are soldered to the iPod nano’s logic board. This is similar to the measures Apple took for making the Retina MacBook Pro slimmer in size.

Also of interest are the five “mystery chips” found. Their function? Unknown. As iDownload Blog notes, they are all stamped with Apple branding and are labelled 75203 23017, 75292 98820, 339S0193, Apple 338S1099 and Apple 338S1146.
