Obsidian Entertainment’s New Crowd-Funded RPG Coming To The Mac

Last week, the folks at Obsidian Entertainment, developers of games like Planescape: Torment, Knights of the Old Republic 2, Fallout: New Vegas, and Icewind Dale, launched a Kickstarter project for a new original IP titled Project Eternity. Their minimum funding goal was $1.1 million, and that was reached in about 30 hours. As of publication, Project Eternity is currently sitting around $1.5 million. That’s very impressive considering they still have twenty-nine days to go.

So, what about Mac support? Well, after the minimum goal was reached, Obsidian posted an update that includes stretch goals. At $1.4 million, a new playable race, class, and companion will be included in the finished game. At $1.6 million, a Mac version will be developed as well as a new major story line, new quests, new locations, new NPCs, and new loot. $1.8 million will net us a new playable race, class, and companion. $2 million means we’ll get a house for our character. At $2.2 million, Linux support will be added as well as a new faction, new NPCs, new quests, and new magic items.

If you want to get in on the goodness and show your support, you can pledge $25 USD to pre-order the game for Steam. This tier will even include a backer-only item. Higher tiers include art books, soundtracks, boxed copies, and even the ability to help create content for the game. The campaign ends on October 14th, so don’t wait too long.
