Music Box For iPad? There’s A Device For That

With the iPad challenging the status quo of everything from note taking to music creation, why wouldn’t it also take on music boxes? I mean, with kids gravitating to the iPad, why wouldn’t we give them music boxes?

Joelle Aeschlimann, as part of her studies at ECAL, has created a music box prototype for the iPad that works just like a traditional music box.

The box, built with rubber tips from commercially available pens, relies on a conductive metal crank and Adobe Air for iOS. The app recognizes the applied pressure, and when rotating the crank, will begin playing music.

Pretty damn snazzy if you ask me.
