Apple Takes Over ‘Apple.co.uk’ Domain

After 15 years of an ongoing presence in the United Kingdom, Apple has finally gained control over the Apple.co.uk domain name. The domain has been owned by UK illustration agency, Apple Illustration since 2003. Since Apple has acquired the domain name, the agency has now relocated to AppleAgency.co.uk. MacRumors cites the registrar information:

Domain name:
apple.co.uk

Registrant:
Apple Inc.

Registrant type:
Non-UK Corporation

Registrant’s address:
1 Infinite Loop
Cupertino
CA
95014
United States

Registrar:
Corporation Service Company (UK) Limited [Tag = CSC-CORP-DOMAINS]
URL: http://www.cscprotectsbrands.com

Relevant dates:
Registered on: before Aug-1996
Expiry date: 13-Jan-2014
Last updated: 06-Jul-2012

The initial domain transfer happened earlier this month, but it’s only begun forwarding to Apple’s main site sometime in the last few days. Apple has a consistent trend for snatching up domain names that pertain to any of their products or trademarks.

In the past, similar domain names were purchased by people with an intention to mislead unsuspecting users to a site filled with ads for monetary gain.

I'm 26 years old from Phoenix, AZ, married to a wonderful wife, have a beautiful daughter, and three dogs. I would definitely consider myself a nerd (in the coolest most hipster way possible). That being said, I love technology, music, writing (obviously), and all things Apple. I like to spend my free time hanging out with the family and watching corny reality shows. I also write for macmixing.com
