Get Your Tumblr On With Your iPad

Tumblr is a great social blogging platform. It works great on desktop browsers, and they have made great strides in the quality of the mobile version of the site as well. There is an iPhone app that has seen a big update recently, but sadly there isn’t an official iPad app. Luckily, third party devs have released really great iPad apps for both viewing and posting Tumblr content.

Tumblita
This is my favorite iPad Tumblr client. Early on, its UI was a bit bizarre, but the latest update has seen a major improvement. It’s good for viewing your dashboard, but it really shines when you go to post. It is by far the easiest way to post content to Tumblr on your iPad. It’s available for $2.99 USD, but it is worth every penny.

Tumbletail
Tumbletail is a dedicated Tumblr dashboard client for your iPad. You can like and reblog, but this isn’t designed for content creation. The UI is a bit messy for my liking, but there is no accounting for taste. You can try it out for free with their ad-supported version, but the regular version is $1.99 USD.

TumTum
If you just want to view the images on your Tumblr dashboard, TumTum is probably the app for you. It’s free, and does nothing but display photos, and allow you to like and reblog them. Other Tumblr content isn’t visible, and you can’t post new content.

Flipboard
If you just want to view your dashboard in a slick UI, Flipboard is your solution. It’s free, and it is universally hailed as one of the best looking apps on the iPad. Try it out, and see how you like it. You can also add Twitter, Facebook, and Google Reader.
