Let’s Just Call Bullshit On This iPhone Backplate Rumor

First it was “iPhone 5 Back Cover Hands-On Video,” then it was “Next iPhone backplate caught on video,” which was then followed up with, well, bullshit and lots of it throughout my news reader. Putting the fact that it’s hard to even remotely believe the video for a second, how can anyone believe this thing is real? Seriously, is the collective IQ of the Internet that low?

Remember when Gizmodo leaked the actual iPhone 4 case just before Apple was set to announce it that year? Remember how the police and Apple Gestapo showed up almost immediately to try to get it back. Has anyone seen or heard anything remotely similar about this rumored backplate? No? Why? Well, because it’s complete bullshit.

The next iPhone may look like that thing we’re seeing around the web today, but that certainly isn’t a prototype, a leak, or as both MacRumors and Slashgear posted in their title, it is absolutely NOT the next iPhone backplate. Again, bullshit.

Get it? Bullshit, I say.

What is it in actuality? It’s a prototype from a third-party who thought it would make sense to slam every single rumor from the last 12 months into a case and pretend it’s actually a real replacement part. Hell, even the guy in the video says, “Maybe it’s an iPhone 5 component, I don’t know.” The. Guy. In. The. Video.
