Sonos Axes Remote Control In Favor Of iPod Touch

Sonos has announced that it will be discontinuing its remote control, used to control their range of audio devices, and instead, they’ll be recommending customers pick up an iPod touch.

The Sonos controller is currently available for both the iPhone and iPad, and does everything their custom remote control does, without the added price tag, especially if you already own an iPhone or iPod touch. The remote control and iPod controller application not only allow users to change tracks and albums, but also let you select speaker arrangements from room to room.

Sonos already offers an iPhone or iPod dock for their systems, and while it’s not needed to interact with the speakers, it certainly provides a place for you to keep your iPod touch charging and connected if you’re only going to use the iPod for the Sonos devices.

This was a logical next step for Sonos.
