Wasteland 2 Will See A Native Mac Release

Wasteland, the classic turn-based RPG that opened doors for games like Fallout to happen, has gone without a real sequel for over twenty years. Brian Fargo, the founder of Interplay as well as the co-creator of Wasteland, has decided it is time to remedy the situation. After a ton of frustrating interactions with game publishers, Brian and his company InXile Entertainment decided that the only way they’ll get to make the sequel that Wasteland deserves is through Kickstarter.

The minimum goal to get Wasteland 2 made was $900,000 USD. They blew right on by that, and they’re now sitting on over $1,600,000 USD. Hell, there is another eighteen days to go, so who knows how high it’ll get up to? Point is, this game is getting made by people who care about it, and want it to succeed. Finally, they have their budget without any publishers meddling with things.

Here’s where it gets interesting. Because the project received over 1.5 million dollars in funding, they can bring Wasteland 2 to the Mac. That’s right! No need to boot into Windows just to get your post-apocalyptic RPG on. All you need to do is pony up $15 USD, and you’ll reserve a digital copy of the game on Windows, Mac, or Linux — sans any messy ol’ DRM shenanigans. If you’re willing to put down $50 USD, you can even get yourself a nice boxed copy.
