Siri now sports better Yelp integration

With the release of iOS 5.1, Apple has taken the opportunity to tweak Siri’s Yelp integration.

Here’s what Mike Ghaffary, Director of Business Development at Yelp, has to say:

[At launch], when asking Siri for a great date restaurant in Cleveland or a dry cleaner in Portland, more often than not she’d show you relevant Yelp-rated businesses near you, but when you tapped the listing, it wouldn’t take you straight to Yelp. Well, last week, Apple launched iOS 5.1 and with it, an updated Siri and Yelp integration on iPhone. Now when searching for a recommendation on local businesses, Siri will return Yelp-reviewed businesses and when you tap the star rating (BOOM!) you are immediately taken to the Yelp business profile page.

While this may seem like a minor tweak, it actually makes the user experience significantly more streamlined. Instead of tapping around to get to what you want, a single tap brings you to exactly what you’re looking for. This is a non-trivial improvement to the Yelp functionality of Siri, and we’re incredibly happy that Apple is bothering to refine the experience.

Have you seen the Yelp improvements, or is it not something you use often enough to notice? Are there other aspects of Siri’s functionality that you would liked to see tweaked in this fashion?
