Detox, a Safari extension that unwraps Twitter’s short links

On Wednesday we posted an article about how short links and convoluted page redirects are starting to make the browsing history of Safari pretty much useless.

On Thursday afternoon, Shaun Inman, author of the 8-bit iOS game The Last Rocket, published a Safari extension that enables the browser to unwrap shortened t.co links so that the URL of the site the user is visiting shows up in the browsing history, making it available in the autocomplete suggestions.

The automatic expansion of Twitter’s short links works when using the Twitter web app and native desktop Twitter clients.

If you rely on the browsing history and URL auto completion and use Twitter, you might find this Safari extension very useful.
