iPad 3 case designs start rolling out

It’s that time of the year again. A new iteration to a current iOS device is on the horizon – the third-generation iPad – and case manufacturers have begun designing their cases. The main difference this time is that the cases are a bit thicker. One millimeter thicker to be exact. Odd, right? We’re so used to thinner devices each year, but Chinee, a Chinese case producer, claims that such design knowledge came from sources within Apple’s supply chain. Nevertheless, we know a new device is coming soon. So what else can we expect or hope to see?

Well, for one thing, everyone’s talking about an HD FaceTime camera on the front. After all, it would just make perfect sense, a better lens on the camera we use more often. To match such hopes, Chinee’s case appears to have slightly larger camera holes for a bigger lens. The iPad 2S, as it’s being called, is also rumored to look identical to the iPad 2 in terms of layout, and to include a quad-core processor, Retina display, Siri dictation support, and LTE network capabilities.

Of course, we’ll really know what’s up when Tim Cook takes the stage in a few months to announce this device. For now, all we can do is speculate and confirm reports. What do you think of the case? Will it fit? Are the rumors on the iPad 2S/3’s design true?
