More like Texas Fold’em: Apple pulls their own game from App Store

Apple has pulled their very own Texas Hold’em game from the App Store. The game, first released in 2006 for iPods and then later featured on the App Store in 2008, is no longer available for purchase. This is a move that isn’t all that surprising consideringthat Apple hadn’t updated the app since 2008.

At the time of its release, Texas Hold’em sparked quite a few rumors that Apple was looking into building their very own video games for iOS devices. It turned out, like it usually does in the rumor mill, to be a lot of hot air. We’ll never know why Apple pulled the plug, but we can probably safely assume that Apple realized they no longer had to illustrate the gaming capabilities of iOS devices since big game developers like EA and Epic Games are bringing the thunder in the gaming space.

To be honest, I don’t think I know one person who purchased Texas Hold’em at $4.99 on the iTunes App Store. Did you? But then again, I’m not much of a card player anyway.

You gotta know when to hold them, you gotta know when to fold ’em and it seems like Apple realized the time for folding was now. Surely the move would make the Gambler proud.
