Modern Combat 3 blows up iOS on October 27

Several months ago we reported that Gameloft’s tiptoeing the fine line of copyright infringement with iOS clone Modern Combat 3. Even a blind man could notice the similarity with Activision’s massively popular shooting franchise, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Anyway, those looking forward to the iOS FPS can get their trigger fingers ready as the game now has an official release date of October 27. Yes, that’s a week on Thursday. Despite our gripes, Modern Combat 3 certainly needs to be commended for its high production values.

Fallen Nation promises 12 strong multiplayer, a fully fledged single player campaign and some of the best visuals we’ve seen in an iOS game. Gameloft (owned by mega publisher Ubisoft) is certainly pulling out all the stops. There’s no news on its price or how sluggish it will run on older devices (it’s been optimized for the iPad 2).

All that’s left is to guess how many will purchase it thinking it’s Modern Warfare on the iPhone and iPad…
