Check out the iPad 2 Mirroring capability in action

Do you have access to a lovely HD television? Do you often find yourself wishing that you had the ability to connect your iPad to the television so that you could play games like Epic’s Infinity Blade on the big screen, from the luxury of your own easy chair? Yeah, so do we. We know that the iPad 2 can do video out using Apple’s Digital AV Adapter (supports HDMI), but what we haven’t seen yet is a video of it in action—until now.

The Touch Arcade folks managed to unearth a video of the iPad 2 doing what it does over HDMI. It looks fantastic. The only thing that would be better would be having the ability to do it over AirPlay, through an Apple TV. But, until Apple gives us the ability to do that, we’ll take the Mirroring option.

Also, keep in mind that a couple of great games, like Chopper, let you use your iPhone or iPod touch as a controller for your iPad. In this setup, your iPad 2 would be come the console, and your iPhone would be the controller.

Apple, welcome to the wonderful world of console gaming. We hope you stay awhile.

The iPad 2 is supposed to be released next week in Canada, and you can bet your money on the fact that I’ll be doing anything I can to get my hands on an iPad 2 as soon as possible.
