Refurbished 11-inch MacBook Air $849 online

I’ve been wanting an 11.6-inch MacBook Air since it was introduced back in October. For my needs, it is a much better fit than an iPad.

I noticed today that Apple is selling refurbished units of the low-end model at $150 off retail.

The base model of the Air has 2GB of RAM and 64GB of SSD storage with a 1.4 GHz Core 2 Duo. It’s the slowest Mac in the current product line, but from all of the reviews, a very capable little machine, and just perfect for people like me who do a ton of writing.

Refurbished computers from Apple are a great deal. Not only does the company warranty them as new, but each model is checked by quality control people. In my years of working in Apple retail and later service, I never saw a refurb machine be dead-on-arrival. There’s really no reason not to do it.
