Apple and Video on Demand

The financial times has an article up that is stating that Apple Inc. has reached a deal with FOX to distribute a new video on demand service. Sounds like the Apple TV might just be getting going. I know I’d be all over this stuff, and completely be ready to do away with Blockbuster here in Canada, but, given Apple’s previous history it will probably be an extra 2-3 years before we get the service up here in the great white north.

But, I have to admit, it’s a step in the right direction. But, I still reserve the right to bitch about the lack of service in Canada. You’ve been warned.

As long as they keep it consistent with the iTunes model, and let people get anything they want when they want it, this could be a step in the right direction. I just finished talking about this with Mr. Vinny Ferrari, and we’ve both come to the conclusion that collecting DVD’s is stupid, and that we’d prefer to be able to download movies when we wanted to watch them. It will save me a whole lot of shelf space that’s for sure!
